Section 2: Landforms of Southeast Asia

1. Summarize the main points of this section found on pages 689-690.
2. Answer the following question: What is the Ring of Fire? How does the Ring of Fire help farming in much of Southeast Asia?

  1. Southeast Asia has many countries that are islands. These include Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Some countries are made up of many islands. These include Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines. The mainland of Southeast Asia is crossed by cordilleras. Cordilleras are mountain ranges that run side by side.
The ring of fire is a ring around the Pacific Ocean. The ring of fire boarders Asia and North America. Many earthquakes and volcanoes are here. The ring of fire is a big shifting plate. When it shifts earthquakes occur. Then lava from underground comes up and appears on the surface.

  2. Southeast Asia lies south of China. Southeast Asia has thousands of islands and some peninsulas. The countries that lie on the mainland are: Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Indonesia and the Philippines are archipelagoes. Mainland of Southeast Asia has cordilleras. Cordilleras are mountain ranges that run side by side.

The ring of fire is an area that is by the Pacific Ocean, and borders Asia and North America. East Asia’s islands are part of the ring of fire. It causes many earthquakes and volcanoes. However, it helps farming because it provides rich soil for much of Southeast Asia. When the ring of fire shifts, lava comes from underground onto the surface.

  3. Southeast Asia lays South of China. It contains areas of peninsulas, islands, and many countries. Southeast Asia is crossed by mountain ranges that run side by side, which are called cordilleras. Many Southeast Asians live in the fertile lowlands. Some challenges this country faces is earthquakes and tsunamis. After these two destructions swept through Southeast Asia, many people died and thousands of business and homes were majorly destroyed.

The Ring of Fire is part of the Pacific Ocean. It experiences many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. It is also a shifting plate. The islands that make up the Ring of Fire contain many active volcanoes that provide rich soil. After the active volcanoes erupt, lava oozes up onto the surface, where it is noticeable.

  4. East Asia is made up of mountains and plains. It The mountains are Himalaya’s and the Kunlun Shan. Between these mountains is the Plateau of Tibet. The lowland’s are North China Plain, and the Manchurian Plain. Off the coast likes a chain of islands known as a archipelago. These islands make up part of the ring of fire.
The ring of fire is basically is ring of volcano’s inactive and active. The ring of fire is very famous and is all around the Atlantic Ocean. The ashes help farmers by allowing the soil to be more fertile. The ashes decompose while they are full of rich nutrients for the soil, thus allowing the soil to be fertile.

  5. Southeast Asia has countries that are half or fully made of islands. Those countries are Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines. Mainland Southeast Asia is crossed by some things called cordilleras. Cordilleras are mountain ranges that run side by side. In south and east of the Mainland’s there are many of Mountainous islands that contain lots of active volcanoes. These volcanoes have rich soil for farming activities.

The Ring of Fire is islands that hold many active volcanoes. The Ring of Fire is an area bordering the Pacific Ocean where some plate movements cause lots of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The Ring of Fire helps the farming in much of Southeast Asia by the volcanoes. The volcanoes provide some rich soil for the farming.

  6. Southeast Asia is located to the south of China. This area has thousands of islands. The mainland islands are Myanmar,Laos,Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Countries thst also make it up, but only parcially, are Indonesia, East Timor, Singapore, Malaysia, The Philippines, and Brunei. The mainland of Southeast Asia is run over by mountain ranges, or cordilleras. Earthquakes affect the mainland and partial mainlands very much.

The Ring of Fire is a series of islands that hold a lavish amount of active volcanoes. The tectonic plates cause the volcanoes to erupt and cover the islands. The volcanoes help by leaving the land they erupted on fertile, rich, and good to grow on.

  7. 1. South Asia has many countries that are made up of islands. Some of these countries are Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and The Philippines. On South Asia’s mainland it has mountain ranges that run side by side. But South Asia also has some on land countries which are Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Most of South Asia’s islands are found in the Ring of Fire.
    2. The Ring of Fire is located in the Pacific Ocean. It causes many earthquakes and other storms in the ocean. Whenever the ring of fire shifts it brings lava up to the surface. This can help farming because it helps bring fertile soil to much of Southeast Asia.

  8. 1. Southeast Asia is south of China. This region mostly has peninsulas and a lot of islands. The countries of these regions are Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines. As I talked about in section 1, Indonesia and the Philippines are also archipelagoes. Cordilleras are mountain ranges that run side by side. Cordilleras are found in mainland Southeast Asia. Southeast Asia has over thousands of mountainous islands. These islands are part of the Ring of Fire. Earthquakes are also a very big challenge in Southeast Asia. Tsunamis are also a great challenge, like the one in 2004. Over 300.000 people died along with thousands of homes and businesses where destroyed. Yes! No work! Not really it was a very tragic disaster for these people.
    2. The Ring of Fire is a part of the world where tons of volcanoes that are active lives. The Ring of Fire helps farming by making there be more land to farm on. It helps mostly for the islands in the Ring of Fire. It will sometimes help the countries along the mainland. Farming is very important. It is good to have some active volcanoes so there will be enough room for everyone to farm. That is how the Ring of Fire helps the farming in this region.

  9. This area is made up of peninsulas and several islands. Some of the countries that are made up of islands are Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines. Cordilleras are mountain ranges that run side by side. South and east of the mainland are tons of mountainous islands. The Ring of Fire hold many active volcanoes. Which provide rich soil for farming. Also there are earthquakes that challenge the island.
The Ring of Fire is a chain of islands that consist of many active volcanoes. The Ring of Fire can help farming because the volcanoes provide rich soil. Rich soil is good is because farmers can produce more and better crops. With richer soil you can make more and better crops which then you can make more of a profit. With more money you can afford more acres of land and more seed which then you can get even more of profit.

  10. Southeast Asia is an area that is mainly peninsulas and it also contains thousands of islands. Some archipelagos that are in this area are Indonesia and the Phillipines. the mainland of Southeast Asia is crossed by cordilleras, these are two mountain ranges that run side by side each other. The things that seperate this these ranges is the fertile river plains and the deltas. many of the islands in this area are part of the Ring of Fire.

The reason why volcanoes help farming so much is because it provides rich soil for the farmers and their land. Another thing that happens though that is not good for the islands are the Earthquakes. This caused a tsunami to wash over the continental lowlands destroying many homes and businesses.

  11. 1.Southeast Asia has a mainland of peninsulas and thousands of islands. The countries include Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The islands include of Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines. Southeast Asia is south of China. Fertile river plains separate cordilleras.
Cordilleras are mountain ranges that run side by side. Southeast of the mainland are mountainous islands that have active volcanoes which are good for the rich soil for farming. Earthquakes are also a factor in Southeast Asia. A tsunami in 2004 killed 300,000 people and homes and businesses were destroyed.
    2. The Ring of Fire is where plate movement that causes earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. It helps farming by the rich soil that the volcanoes make in the mountainous island

    Section 2
South East Asia is made up of thousands of islands and peninsulas. Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam all lie entirely on South East Asia’s mainland. Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines are all islands. The Philippines and Indonesia are both archipelagoes. Cordilleras are mountains that form side by side.
The ring of fire is an area were plate movement forms many islands. These islands have many volcanoes. These volcanoes are why it’s called the ring of fire. Earthquakes also happen in the ring of fire. Despite the fact that the volcanoes are very dangerous they make rich soil for farmers.

  13. Southeast Asia has many countries. Some aren’t islands but some are partly or entirely made up of islands. Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam all lay entirely on Southeast Asia’s mainland. Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines are either partly or entirely made up of islands. Both Indonesia and the Philippines are archipelagoes. Archipelagoes are a chain of islands.
The Ring of Fire is a big plate bordering the Pacific Ocean. It extends from Asia to North America. When it shifts it can cause many earthquakes and many volcanic eruptions. As it shifts, earthquakes occur and volcanoes erupt. Some of these earthquakes lead to tsunamis.
